Our Story

Sunshine State Yarns started with the desire for a simpler and quieter life. In 2010 we settled perfectly in a small town with more than 20 acres to work, where we raised our first alpacas. We treat our animals as our partners in our business and they receive the very best in terms of food, shelter, and caring for their whole well-being. Our alpaca yarn is guaranteed to be made with quality fiber and is humanely collected.  By providing the best care to them they, in return, share a piece of themselves with their fleece which we then turn into our beautiful yarn.

Live local, buy local is our motto! We love everything we have in our community and take pride in guaranteeing our alpaca yarn is 100% sourced locally to our state. From the alpacas we raise on our farm in Melrose, to the mill that creates our yarn in New Smyrna Beach, and the Florida themed colorways, our business is inspired by and originates in the beautiful state of Florida!
